Frequently Asked Questions:
Below is a list of the most commonly asked questions that we receive regarding customer queries. We also address some common misconceptions around carpet and upholstery cleaning. These are questions that it is advisable to ask when you require the services of a carpet/upholstery cleaner. Their answers are what separate professionals from amateurs. Should your question not be listed below please contact us and ask accordingly and we will be more than pleased to address any questions or concerns that you have.
Question 1. How long will it take you to clean my carpets?
As a general rule it will take approximately 30 minutes per room, however this timescale is dependent on how soiled the carpets are, the amount of furniture to be moved and if there is any stain removal that needs to occur. A 2-3 bedroom house takes approximately 3-4 hours to finish.
Question 2. Do I need to do anything before you arrive?
It is advised that you move all breakables and clutter from the rooms to be cleaned. It is advised to place these items on beds, sofas and chairs. Additionally it would be nice to be able to park close to your home/business in order to unload our equipment.
Question 3. Do you move furniture?
If required we will move most furniture i.e sofas, tables, chairs. Protective tabs are also provided to place under furniture legs in order to protect carpets. Generally we do not move beds or heavier furniture pieces. As a general rule we will not move electronic items such as computers and TV’s or any ornaments within cabinets, books within bookcases, grandfather clocks etc. We will always reserve the right to decline to move anything we are not comfortable with, however we always do our best to work with you to achieve the best result.
Question 4. Will cleaning my carpet assist with my allergies?
When you have your carpets and upholstery professionally cleaned using our hot water extraction process dust mites, dirt, pollutants and grime are removed that your typical household vacuum cleaner or DIY carpet extraction machine will never reach. This always ensures a healthier breathing environment. Additionally we have and use cleaning solutions that have anti-bacterial properties and aid in the fight to protect against dust mites etc.
Question 5. How long will it take my carpets or furniture to dry?
The drying times for our hot water extraction cleaning can vary. Drying times are also affected by weather, ventilation and carpet thickness. Very powerful air blowers are used to assist with the drying process as such drying times can vary from being dry by the time we leave the property to up to 3 hours based on the factors listed above. Should drying time be a major show stopper for you we are also able to offer a quick dry process where we use a dry powered encapsulation cleaning method where powder crystals are worked into the carpet absorbing soils which are then vacuum extracted. Using this method carpets are dry immediately, however we prefer to use the hot water extraction method in order to offer the deepest possible clean.
Question 6. Are your chemicals environmentally safe?
All of the chemicals that we use are non-toxic and biodegradable. Only certified products are used. We also use environmentally safe products upon request. We do not use abrasive chemicals which can leave behind harmful residues.
Question 7. How often should I get my carpets cleaned?
It is our recommendation that your carpets are cleaned every 6-12 months. This timescale depends on a variety of influencing factors such as the amount and type of traffic on your carpet. I.e Larger households and ones with pets would be advised to consider a more frequent cleaning regime of at least 3 times per year. Regarding commercial cleaning it is often advisable to increase this frequency. We will be pleased to discuss any concerns that you have around this during our visit.
Question 8. What is the best method to clean carpets?
It is widely regarded that hot water extraction (sometimes called steam cleaning) is the best method to clean carpets. This is a view that is supported by main carpet manufacturers.
Question 9. Can’t I clean my own carpets?
By all means clean your own carpets. However in our experience there is a monumental difference in results between a consumer machine or a hired carpet cleaning machine to that of a professional carpet clean. The equipment that we use along with our solutions, our experience and correct cleaning techniques are critical to our cleaning results. Additionally we advise that you consider the overall DIY cost and time versus a professional clean along with the additional solutions you would need to purchase and your time in collecting and returning the hire machine. Hire machines also need to be cleaned before they are returned otherwise you can forfeit your deposit. At a DIY level there is not a product available that can deliver the cleaning results of a professional! Below is a picture of the extracted water after we cleaned a property. This property was cleaned twice by a consumer carpet machine before we arrived. This shows the dirt and grime that DIY machines leave behind.
